Hitler’s blunder resulted in a devastating defeat
for the German Army on the Eastern Front.
Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko was an
expert who took a heavy toll in enemy troops
on the Eastern Front.
The British and German media waged rival
campaigns to inform the public of the V-1
and V-2 weapons’ potential to alter the
course of World War II.
The government of Thailand declared war on
Britain and the United States, but circum-
stances dictated that the Allied governments
view the declaration quite differently.
Britain’s Home Guard stood ready to defend
the island nation against the invading Nazis.
Although the evacuation of Dunkirk ended a
military disaster for Britain, the British people
drew strength from the heroic effort to rescue
the BEF.
