Ladies and gentleman, introducing Trey Smith, whose birthday is
today, and ol' cousin Frank ya'all.
Frank Kern:
Hey everybody. What about cousin Trey's birthday today?
Trey Smith:
Turning 21 today.
Frank Kern:
You know what I'm going to get you is one of those cards where
you stuff a lot of change into little slots. It'll say like, "Happy
birthday to a special cousin," and it'll be in like pink cursive, with
like little confetti on there, and you open it up and there'll be like
$4.00 in quarters stuck into little --
Trey Smith:
[Laughs] up and down all day long.
Frank Kern:
It's like the Easter Bunny but early.
Trey Smith:
God. Man you're the best cousin ever, Cousin Frank Ya'all.
Frank Kern:
I heard that boss. Let's see – have done the count? I lost count at
roughly 97 billion questions.
Trey Smith:
Yeah, I was right around there too.
Frank Kern:
Mhm. So rather than actually answering any of them why don't we
just make jokes and stuff?
Trey Smith:
All right, that's fine. We could do that like we're stand up
comedians instead.
Frank Kern:
Yeah. Is this thing on?
Trey Smith:
No one really wants to learn about building lists; they just want to
hear you and me act like idiots all day.
Frank Kern:
Gosh. If only we knew. Let's do this: let's get a little funky today
because it's your birthday.
Trey Smith:
Yeah.
Frank Kern:
I'm wearing hot pants today; I don't know if you knew that.
Trey Smith:
Dude, I'm not wearing pants.
Frank Kern:
Isn't that something?

Trey Smith:
I don't wear pants ever on my birthday.
Frank Kern:
Well you mean Porky Pig it – you wear a shirt, no pants like Porky
Pig.
Trey Smith:
It's something the ladies go crazy over.
Frank Kern:
Well what do you say we switch it up a little bit, Cousin Trey and
instead of starting off reading the questions let's do a little Q&A at
the top of the hour.
Trey Smith:
You're talking about doing a reverse merger, aren't you?
Frank Kern:
I'm talking about doing a reverse Q&A section; we'll just go all
wild and crazy, live without a net.
Trey Smith:
Bizarro World. All right, that's cool with me, man.
Frank Kern:
Okay, we'll let's open it up for some good old-fashioned Q&A
there, Cousin Operator Everybody.
Operator:
Yes. At this time if you do have a question please press the
number one on your touch tone phone at this time.
Trey Smith:
See Frank? We caught them all off-guard.
Frank Kern:
Yeah.
Trey Smith:
They're like, "Oh man, I wasn't even ready for the question.
Gaah."
Frank Kern:
Questions can't include questions such as, "Why are you two such
a couple morons?" Things like that, because really no one knows
the answer to that question. We were born that way, it's a genetic
disorder. We'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make fun of us.
Trey Smith:
We can't really help it.
Frank Kern:
No we can't. Do you know what's amazing is the operator's ability
to always maintain professionalism in the face of our complete
stupidity.
Trey Smith:
You know I made her laugh a little bit earlier. But I'll bet she
would never laugh on the call.

Frank Kern:
Probably not. The last thing you'd want to do: have any kind of
fun at all on one of these calls.
Trey Smith:
Hell no.
Frank Kern:
Well I know we have a lot of people on the calls; if no one asks a
question does that mean we can just, like, start drinking?
Operator:
We do have questions.
Trey Smith:
They're waiting for us to shut up, I think.
Frank Kern:
Okay, well might as well start drinking anyway, then. Whatever.
Operator:
Okay, well first up we do have Julie Peters; your line is open.
Caller:
Hi everyone, how are you doing? I'm so excited to be talking to
you guys. Happy birthday.
Frank Kern:
What did you get Trey for his birthday?
Trey Smith:
Well thank you, Julie.
Caller:
What I'm sending you right now, Trey, is just this big huge hug
right over the phone lines. Can you feel it right now?
Trey Smith:
I can feel lit; I can feel it coming through my iPhone.
Caller:
Good. It's a real big birthday hug for you. I can also sing for you:
"Happy birthday to you." That's about it – that's all I can do.
Trey Smith:
One hell of a voice, Julie; don't let anybody tell you any different.
Caller:
Yes, well happy birthday Trey. Anyway, here's my question: I'm
an affiliate for this one person. I'm a certified Law of Attraction
coach. And twice a year, the academy that I graduated from has
their doors open and I'm an affiliate. It's a pretty substantial pay:
it's $1,000.00 pay for me if I bring people in.
Now the deadline date is May 5
th
is when they start, and I have a
radio show on Blog Talk Radio and the woman who does the
program is actually going to be on my radio show.
Now I'm thinking about doing this and I just kind of want to float
this by: should I – I mean I've got my email list, about 2,000
people, so I'm going to notify them about the program. What I

thought I would do is that from my perspective give them like what
it'd be like to be your first year as a coach, what to expect, do a
little audio on that and then turn into a PDF; that would be the free
thing that I give them.
And then at the end say, "Here's the program that's starting that I
did for a year and here's a program that's starting up in May." That
would be like my email list. Do you think I should also start
thinking about like doing Yahoo keywords for the course or is it
not even appropriate for this kind of affiliate program?
Frank Kern:
Yeah, if people know about it already and it's one of those kind of
things where they're like, "Oh man, that things going to open up
soon," and they might be searching for it, I would totally do it.
And send them to your affiliate link or to an opt in page. A lot of
affiliates do pretty well – well first of all like in the internet
marketing world, the affiliates who do the best are the ones who
have the list and email their list and offer bonuses and all that kind
of stuff.
So the most lucrative thing you could do would be to get your list
excited about it by doing what it sounds like you're doing which is
like demonstrating your results with the program and everything;
making it an honest, good, heartfelt endorsement. And also give a
bonus with it.
Trey Smith:
I'll bet no one is doing that yet in that market and you could clean
up with that; that would be really cool.
Frank Kern:
If I'm hearing you correctly, you took the course and have now
become a coach and now are having success with that?
Caller:
Yes; yes I have. Yeah, but I really love it.
Frank Kern:
That’s great, so that’s something I think someone would love.
Something the prospect would absolutely love to have, like,
"Listen, I took this course, I've had success. Now I make my
living in this field. And if you order through me and join this
program through me, as a bonus to you I will give you four weekly
Quick Start coaching calls to jumpstart your career as a coach,
telling you everything I've learned in the past year as a full-time
coach," or something. And that's a painless free thing you could
give to them, you know.
Caller:
Okay I love that. So actually not just giving them something free
as an opt-in; do you recommend me also doing that as well, having

opt-in page and as we did in the first week when we learned about
the opt-in page and the affiliate underneath, or should I just come
out and say – and then also "If you sign up with me," because I
know that when I signed up with you guys for List Control we did
have like five or different people say, "Oh join me and I'll give you
these bonuses," and so forth. So should the bonus be long-term,
like, "Hey, at the end of your course I'll give you a month of free
coaching to jump start it," like you said, or should it be more like,
"During this time we'll meet every other month for an hour." I'll
answer questions for you and help you on your way. What do you
think would be a good bonus, because here's where I get kind of
confused in my head because I get so creative and it's like, "Well
which one works well? What's the best bonus I could give for
people?"
Frank Kern:
[Crosstalk]. Go ahead Cousin Trey Ya'all, everybody.
Trey Smith:
I was just going to say if you don't mind talking to people on the
phone and stuff like that, then doing like an hour consult with them
or something like that could be really good for you. Some people
don't like doing that kind of stuff, though.
Caller:
And that would be like before they join?
Trey Smith:
After they join. [Crosstalk].
Frank Kern:
So you can be super cool and you could hold a Q&A call, or
actually a preplanned webinar with a specific outcome, just like
everything you need to know about this program before you join it.
And then of course you talk about the benefits of it and what
you've learned and you pitch your bonus at the end of that, leading
up to launch date. I would do that prior to it going on sale, and
then I would make your bonus something that would have the
highest perceived value possible that would help those new
customers. And of course what would actually help them the most,
which probably is the voice of experience of someone who's
actually used the coaching program and gotten results and become
a coach themselves. So I would offer as an immediate bonus when
they buy like a four-week jump start coaching program where
every Friday you get on the phone with them and you teach them
like one major lesson that you've learned in the past year or
something.
Caller:
Okay, that would be awesome; I can definitely do that. All right,
and then right now I know that I've received emails from people
who are her affiliates and they're just doing the same emails that
