Readme File for ZVHDD Version 1.32 ================================== SUSPEND TO DISK saves your current job context to your hard drive and then power off itself (if you are using an ATX power supply). When you reboot your system next time, the system will resume to the original job context by restoring the data in the hard drive without going through the Windows 95 boot sequence. Note that you have to use VESA standard (or compatible) PCI VGA, Sound Blaster (or compatible) sound card with APM driver for SUSPEND TO DISK to work properly. Before using SUSPEND TO DISK function, there are some works to do: I) To create a hard drive space for the system to SUSPEND TO DISK, bootup your system into DOS command prompt. There are 2 ways to create a hard drive space for SUSPEND TO DISK. 1. ZVHDD /c /partition /M:memsize Where memsize is the size of hard drive space reserved for SUSPEND TO DISK in megabytes from 1 to 256. For example, if your system memory size is 32MB, you may type the following command: ZVHDD /c /parition /M:64 Note 1) Since this method is to create a new partition in your hard drive, it is important to make sure there is at least one partition that is not been used. Note 2) It is recommanded that you create more space than your system memory size, i.g. 2 times than your system memory size, so you can add more system memory in your system for upgrading in the future. Note 3) If you are a Windows 95 OSR2(FAT32) user, It is recommanded that you use this method to create your hard drive space. 2. ZVHDD /c /file /M:memsize Where memsize is the size of hard drive space reserved for SUSPEND TO DISK in megabytes from 1 to 256. For example, if your system memory size is 32MB, you may type the following command: ZVHDD /c /file /M:64 Note 1) Since this method is to create a hidden file in your hard drive, it is important to make sure there is enough continuous space for creating this hidden file. If you don't have enough hard drive space, please use the DEFRAG command to defrag your hard drive. Note 2) Is is also recommanded that you create more space than your system memory size, e.g. 2 times larger than your system memory size, so you can add more system memory in your system for upgrading in the future. Note 3) If you are a Windows 95(FAT16) user, It is recommanded that you use this method to create your hard drive space. II) Setup SUSPEND TO DISK option in your BIOS setup. 1. Goto your BIOS setup program. 2. Select "Power Management Setup". 3. Move the cursor until "Suspend Mode Option" option is hilighted. 4. Change the option of the "Suspend Mode Option" to "Suspend to Disk". 5. Save the setting and exit from the Setup program. When you finished the above settings correctly, you can use the SUSPEND TO DISK function in your system. If you are a Windows 95 user, just click the Start button and select Suspend, the system will suspend to disk. Or you can just wait until the Suspend Mode timer time out, the system will also enter the suspend to disk procedure.
