What does a great riding bike mean to you ? It’s a question we feel all mountain bikers should ask themselves, but many don’t.
When a rider gets on one of our bikes for the first time, we want them to ask questions like : How does the geometry behave ?
Does the bike climb well ? Does it inspire confidence on sketchy descents ? Does the suspension feel balanced ? And more.
At Rocky Mountain, we agonize over questions like these, always with the ultimate goal of creating the best riding bikes possible.
The foundation of a great riding bike is its frame and that’s why we put frame quality above all else when we design a new
bike. For that reason, we don’t ‘dumb down’ our technologies as you move down in price point. The industry leading carbon
layup in our Element 999 RSL is also found in Element 950 RSL, and likewise, Vertex 950 RSL shares the same frame as
Vertex 999 RSL. Derailleurs and tires can come and go, but frames are what truly make the ride.
As a company with strong Vancouver roots, we feel the best riding bike is one that is playful and agile. If there is anywhere
that’s the true test of a bike’s handling, it’s our rugged backyard trails. The best possible compliment we can hear is when
a rider tries out a new Rocky Mountain and comments, “It rides like a Rocky”. Since we started in 1981, we’ve been known,
for our unique ride and that remains true 32 years later.

ARGENTINA 2012
With the Andes running up its spine and its thousands of kilometers of rugged coastline, Argentina is famous for
breathtaking scenery. Surely it should be home to a bonanza of great mountain biking ! This past winter, fellow
Rocky Mountain athletes Geoff Gulevich, Thomas Vanderham, Andreas Hestler and myself decided to find out.
We spent 10 days searching for the ultimate all-mountain adventure. And we may have found it...
Just days after arriving in the picturesque, lakeside town of San Carlos de Bariloche, it was evident to us that we
had stumbled into a world class mountain bike mecca.
With a burgeoning bike park designed by passionate local mountain bikers nearby at Cerro Cathedral, and
incredibly fun shuttle zones surrounding town, San Carlos de Bariloche is a gravity rider’s dream. We were lucky
enough to sample it all ! Thanks to our amazing guides, the Rocky Mountain team was treated to some of the
best and most epic all-mountain rides we had ever experienced – a bold statement considering our combined
riding history. With world-class riding, super friendly people, and first-rate meat and wine, Argentina was surely
a trip that I will never forget.
