Expressing “extremes”:
too; so; such.
Sometimes, the word “very” just isn’t enough – the situation is more intense or exasperating!
That’s when we use
too, so,
and
such.
Example:
The line was
too
long, so I left.
Too
before an adjective indicates it was a problem.
The line was
so
long that I had to wait for a while.
We use “so” in front of an adjective to express an “extreme”.
There was
such
a long line that I had to wait for a while.
We use “such” in front of a noun to express an “extreme”. Don’t forget the indefinite
article.
