Handheld Trackball

Troubleshooting Hints

The Handheld Trackball is an example of superior design and craftsmanship,
and should last for years. However, if the trackball does not seem to
function properly, or a problem arises, check the following:
° Make sure the connector is firmly plugged into the serial or the mouse
port.
° Make sure you have selected the correct serial port.
° Check to see if the cable is broken or has any sharp bends.
° If the cursor appears on the screen but does not move, make sure you have
installed the correct driver.
° If the cursor moves erratically or jumps on the screen, make sure you
have selected the proper mouse driver.
° If the cursor moves irregularly across the screen, clean the trackball.

The trackball might pick up some dust or lint after prolonged use. If the
on-screen pointer (mouse cursor) is not moving smoothly, follow these steps
to clean the trackball:

Turn off you computer.
Disconnect the trackball from the computer.
Turn the trackball upside down.
Remove all the screws with a small philips screwdriver.
Turn the trackball right side up and remove the upper cover.
Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the ball and rollers. Never use cleaning
fluid or solvents.
Replace the ball.
Carefully replace the upper cover.
Tighten the screws.
Reconnect the cable the cable to the computer and restart the
computer.
